Underprivileged children’s educational growth is the goal of the teaching program volunteers at Consolatha Lupembe Pre and Primary School. Additionally, volunteers assist with an e-learning project that provides educational tablets to pupils for learning.

Overview
Welcome to Consolatha Lupembe Pre and Primary School, a vibrant and caring community where your time, energy, and kindness can make a real difference! As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with our teachers and pupils, supporting English lessons, leading fun learning activities, and helping to improve our school environment through light repairs and creative projects.
Beyond the classroom, you’ll also assist the dormitory matron in helping children organize their belongings, maintain cleanliness, and learn important life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and independence. Your guidance and encouragement will help build the confidence and character of our young learners and you’ll gain meaningful memories in return!
By volunteering for the teaching program at Consolatha Lupembe Pre and Primary School, you’ll be able to make a long-lasting impact on the lives of the children and the communities you’ll work with. This will also give you a chance to being with the natives and know more about their daily lives, culture, and customs.

Volunteer Work Schedule
As a volunteer for the Teaching Program at Consolatha Lupembe Pre and Primary School, Tanzania, your general schedule would be:

Sunday – Arrival at the destination (Iringa)

Monday – An orientation session will be conducted by the local coordinator, covering the major topics such as safety, culture, language, places to visit, behaviour, food, and other suggestions for things to do in Tanzania

Tuesday to Friday – Volunteer work at the School

Weekends – Free to explore the city / Head out for wildlife safaris and much more
Breakfast – 07:30 am onwards
Working hours at the School – 08:30 am to 12:30 pm and 02:00 pm to 03:00 pm
Lunch – 12:30 pm onwards
Dinner – 06:30 pm onwards
The same work schedule continues from the second week onwards (Monday – Friday).
Note: Please note, the schedule may vary depending on the particular project the volunteer is participating on.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
Volunteers in the Teaching program mostly help staff members and instructors with their daily tasks and plan unique activities for the kids. They also concentrate on growing the projects by finding and forming alliances and planning events and fundraising drives.
- As a volunteer, you will be able to assist the current staff and English teachers in guiding the sessions and enhancing students’ conversational and pronunciation abilities.
- Make plans for the day and maintain student interest. You can also teach science, math, and geography. If offered in your Class, assist in Tablet Learning classes.
- Assist pupils in expanding their vocabulary. Create test forms for routine evaluations.
- Focusing on interactive sessions and activity-based learning strategies would be ideal.
- Engage the pupils in “out-of-the-class” activities to increase their practical knowledge.

Project Requirement
When joining the initiative, volunteers must be at least 17 years old. In order to work in a new and unusual setting, participants need be adaptable and have an open mind. Volunteers must be adaptable, receptive, and passionate about working with kids. Additionally, you must to be proactive and capable of taking the initiative. Before participating in the program, all volunteers must submit a clear criminal background check report. Participants under the age of eighteen must sign a parental consent form in order to participate in the program.
The course of our volunteer program
Airport Transfer
Our representative will meet you at the Iringa Airport in the Tanga district, after which you will be taken to the school’s volunteer housing. Additionally, volunteers can travel directly to Iringa via bus or shuttle from Dar es Salaam. The bus station is where they will be picked up. For those participants arriving from Dar Es Salaam or Zanzibar via air, collection can also be arranged from Iringa airport, which offers domestic flights now.
Accommodation
Volunteer lodgings are provided by Consolatha Lupembe Pre and Primary School in a special volunteer house on campus. The accommodations are shared rooms with the possibility of individual upgrades. Volunteers can live happily together in a number of rooms and apartments at the volunteer house. Cooks work in a well-equipped kitchen, and security guards maintain a secure atmosphere.
There is a special laundry room for volunteers where you can wash your clothes by hand. Alternatively, volunteers donate their clothing to the laundry or housekeepers for an additional fee. With CCTV cameras installed and a security officer on duty, safety is given top priority. More than fifty volunteers can be accommodated in the volunteer house.

Orientation
The local coordinator will conduct an orientation session for all volunteers. The orientation will include topics including safety, places to visit, transportation, and things to see. Following your orientation, you will learn more about your project and take a tour of the town and surrounding area.
Meals
Three meals are served to volunteers each day. A combination of Tanzanian and Western cuisine is served during regular meals. The following are some examples of meals at the volunteer house:

For Breakfast : Hot water with option of black tea and coffee,Toasted Bread with Butter, Jam and Seasonal Fruits, and Eggs

For Lunch and Dinner : Rice,Spaghetti, Salad,Mashed Potato,French Fries, Chapati as well as other Tanzanian dishes and fruits.
Breakfast and dinner are at the volunteer house while lunch is usually taken at the school or can be taken if you are back at the accommodation from the project.
During your Free Time
You will also want to explore Iringa and visit some of the top tourist destinations. The majority of participants do safari trips and visit Nyerere national park. A safari excursion is a requirement when visiting Tanzania. The nation provides some of the world’s top safari and wildlife experiences. Ruaha national park, Mikumi National Park, Nyerere National Park, are all accessible.
