21 Day Best of Tanzania: Mountaineering, Wildlife and Zanzibar
Trip Overview
This 3 week safari experience will take you to all top places within Tanzania enabling you to visit places like Kilimanjaro mountain where you will spend 7 days hiking to the top of the highest peak on African continent. after the hiking experience, you will head for the wildlife safari, visiting the northern part of Tanzania where you will go to the famous places like Serengeti and Ngorongoro for the wildlife viewing where you will encounter all the big five of Africa. Finally you will have a week for relaxation in Zanzibar island where you will be able to enjoy these beautiful Island.
TRECKING PORTION (Day 1 to Day 7)
Day 1: ARRIVE KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (JRO)
You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi. you will meet with your mountain guide,he will brief you on your upcoming schedule for treking and do an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. Day 2: MARANGU GATE (1860M) TO MANDARA HUT (2700M
After breakfast, you will be proceed to Marangu gate. Once the necessary paper work has been completed, your trek can begin and you will soon be hiking through the dense rainforest. Alongside the impressive vegetation, you will have the chance to catch a glimpse of some primates as you head to the Mandara Hut. After a well-earned rest, your guide can take you to the Maundi Crater where you can enjoy the wonderful view of the Kenyan interior.

Day 3:MANDARA HUT (2700M) TO HOROMBO HUT (3700M)
The day begins with an early breakfast. Shortly after you have left Mandara Hut, you will reach the timberline and then enter the heath and moor zone. Approximately 4 – 6 hours later, the Horombo Hut will come into sight, standing at an altitude of 3700m. From the hut, you will have fantastic views overlooking Mawenzi, Kibo and the wide plain of the Masai steppe.

Day 4: ACCLIMATIZATION TREK TO ZEBRA ROCKS (4020M) THEN BACK TO HOROMBO HUT (3700M)
Horombo Hut Today serves as an acclimatization day. This should not be underestimated and greatly improves your chance of success in reaching the summit. After a relaxing breakfast, a 4 hour trek follows to the Zebra Rocks (4020m). The distinctive black and white stripes give the rock formation its name. On your return to Horombo Hut, a warm lunch will be waiting for you. You can relax in the afternoon and regain your strength for the hike the following day.

Day 5 :HOROMBO HUT (3700M) TO KIBO HUT (4700M)
Today’s stage is long and tough. The well-built trail passes the “Last Water point” which is followed by the so-called “saddle”. This nearly vegetation less plateau joins the main summit Kibo with Mawenzi. Today’s destination is the Kibo Hut that is usually reached in about 5 – 6 hours. Here, you will enjoy an early evening meal followed by an early night, as the night will be short.

Day 6: KIBO HUT (4700M) TO UHURU PEAK (5895M) & DOWN TO HOROMBO HUT (3700M)
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s Point located on the crater rim (elev 5700m/18,700ft). Continuing, we now ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa. There are unbelievable views at every turn. From here we descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo encampment.

Day 7:HOROMBO HUTS (3,690 M/12,100 FT) TO MARANGU GATE TO ARUSHA
After breakfast and refreshing; descend through the moorland to the Mandara Huts. Have lunch there then continue your triumphant recessional down through lush forest to the park gate, which you should reach around 1pm or 2:30 pm. SAFARI PORTION (Day 8 to Day 16)
Day 8: Tarangire national park
After an early breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park.Enter the park and begin your morning game drive. Tarangire is known for its huge elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife including lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and over 500 bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic site overlooking the Tarangire River — a perfect spot to watch animals coming to drink.Continue your game drive through different parts of the park. Day 9: Departure to Ngorongoro with Game Drive
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater, Upon arrival at Ngorongoro, head straight into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. Day 10: Transfer to Serengeti national park

Day 11: Game drive in central Serengeti

Day 12: Drive to Northern Serengeti
Early breakfast at your lodge. Drive to Northern Serengeti: After breakfast, drive to Northern Serengeti (approximately 3-4 hours), Begin a game drive in Northern Serengeti, where you can witness the Great Wildebeest Migration (seasonal) and the stunning landscape. Day 15: Fly from Serengeti to Zanzibar

Transfer to Airstrip: After breakfast, transfer to Kogatende Airstrip in Northern Serengeti.
Flight to Zanzibar: Take a scheduled flight from Kogatende Airstrip to Zanzibar (approximately 1.5 hours).
ZANZIBAR PORTION (Day 16 to Day 21)
Day 16: Arrival & Transfer (Half Board Inclusive)
Arrive at Zanzibar International Airport (or ferry/harbour if arriving by boat) and transfer to your hotel in Stone Town.
Check-in and relax after your journey. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll around Stone Town — perhaps visit the seafront, Forodhani Gardens night market, or local shops.
Dinner and overnight in Stone Town.
Day 17: Stone Town Tour + Prison Island + Beach Move (Half Board Inclusive)
Morning: Guided tour of Stone Town – explore its historic architecture, narrow alleyways, and key landmarks such as the Former Slave Market, House of Wonders, and Old Fort.
Afternoon: Boat trip to Prison Island (Changuu Island) to see the giant tortoises and enjoy some optional snorkeling,
Later, transfer to your beachfront resort (east or north coast) for the next nights.
Dinner and overnight at the beach resort.
Day 18: Spice Tour + Beach / Optional Activity (Half Board Inclusive)
Morning: Visit a local spice plantation to learn about Zanzibar’s famous spices – cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, and tropical fruits.
Afternoon & Evening: Relax on the beach or enjoy optional water activities.
Dinner and overnight at the beach resort.
Day 19: Nature / Adventure Day – Jozani Forest (Half Board Inclusive)
Morning: Excursion to Jozani Forest, home of the rare red colobus monkeys. Walk through the mangroves and nature trails.
Evening: Return to your resort and relax — enjoy the sunset by the sea.
Dinner and overnight at the beach resort.
Day 20: Full Beach Day + Optional Dolphins or Snorkel (Half Board Inclusive)
A full day at leisure to unwind on the beach.
Optional activities: swim with dolphins in Kizimkazi, go snorkeling, or take a dhow sunset cruise.

Day 21: Departure (Breakfast Included)
After breakfast, check out and transfer to the airport or ferry terminal for your departure.
Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy some free time for a beach walk or last-minute shopping.
